The Reds have activated right-hander Edinson Volquez to start the second game of their series against the Colorado Rockies. Volquez returns 11 months after having reconstructive surgery on his right elbow. He was Cincinnati's top starter before he was hurt. The Reds optioned left-hander Matt Maloney to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
